Tips when hosting a video/teleconference
- Determine if you are hosting a Meeting or Webinar
- Don't go out there alone! Appoint a person to act as your "Zoom Captain" (our term, not Zoom's) and give them specific authority to
- Monitor the Waiting Room and allow/disallow attendees
- Boot attendees who are being purposefully or accidentally disruptive
- Mute all attendees
- Unmute attendees who forget to unmute themselves
- Switch video modes as necessary
- Set attendees to be muted on entry
- When setting up the meeting, set your Zoom Captain as a co-host
- If possible, plug in to the network instead of using wifi
- For public events, consider contacting MarCom to use the Newsroom
- Select an appropriate backdrop or one of MarCom's Cedarville University backgrounds
- If connecting from home, warn your family and lock your door
- Raise up your camera to eye level. If using a laptop, elevate your device with a stand or books (ensure it is stable) and use an external mouse and/or keyboard at table level
- Smile and greet attendees
