Summary

This article will help you use tech carts in a variety of Library classrooms.

LB 003

To turn the ceiling mounted projector on:

  • Press the DISPLAY ON button. The image will appear in about 60 seconds.

To show the tech cart computer image:

  • Press the PC button.

To show the laptop image:

  1. Attach your laptop to the cable provided, and then press the LAPTOP button.
  2. Press the VGA or HDMI button on the touch screen. 

Note: If the image does not appear, press FN + F? (e.g., Fn + F8) on the laptop to toggle through the display settings.  

To duplicate or extend the computer image to the projector or TV:

  1. Press and hold the Windows key and press the letter P (Windows + P).
  2. A window will appear with 4 options. Select the option you wish to use:
    • Duplicate will make the local monitor and the projection screen have the same image.
    • Extended will make the local monitor and the projection screen have different images.

To show a DVD or VHS video:

  1. Put the DVD or VHS in the DVD/VCR player, and then press the VIDEO button.
  2. Select DVD or VCR on the touch screen.                              

Note:  Additional controls are located on the touch screen.

To adjust the volume:

  • Turn the volume knob to the left or right.

To black-out the screen:

  1. Press the MUTE button.
  2. To display the image, press the MUTE button again.

To play audio with the projector off:

  1. Press either the PC or LAPTOP button. 
  2. Play your audio.

To only mute audio:

  1. Press the AUDIO MUTE button.
  2. To hear audio, press the AUDIO MUTE button again.

When you are done:

  1. Log off the computer properly.
  2. Remove all USB devices, videotapes and discs from their appropriate places.
  3. Press the DISPLAY OFF button.

LB 021

To turn the wall mounted TV on:

  • Press the small black power button on the right side of the TV.

To show the desktop image:

  • Shake the mouse to wake it up.
  • Make sure the HDMI cable is plugged in and the input is on HDMI 3.

To show laptop image:

  • Take the HDMI out of the desktop.
  • Connect to HDMI cable and the image should automatically appear, if not make sure HDMI 3 is selected with the button on the TV's side. 
  • If not, try unplugging and plugging back in or turning the TV off and on.

Note: If the image does not appear, try pressing the Windows key and the P key at the same time and selecting either Duplicate or Extend. 

If you have trouble:

  • Go to the service desk and ask for help.
  • Or ask for a remote to assist you.

To duplicate or extend the computer image to the projector or TV:

  1. Press and hold the Windows key and press the letter P (Windows + P).
  2. A window will appear with 4 options. Select the option you wish to use:
    • Duplicate will make the local monitor and the projection screen have the same image.
    • Extended will make the local monitor and the projection screen have different images.

To adjust the volume:

  • Use your device's volume controls.
  • Use the TV's buttons on the right side.

When you are done:

  • Turn off the TV with the button on the side and turn off the lights.

LB 027

To turn the LCD projector on:

  1. Press the PROJ ON button.
  2. Wait 1-2 minutes for the projector to turn on.

To show a computer image:

  • Press the PC button.

Note: To adjust the volume, press the VOL UP or VOL DOWN button.

To show a laptop image:

  1. Connect your laptop to the VGA cable.
  2. Press Fn + F? to toggle laptop video card output to the projector (e.g., Fn + F8).

Note: To adjust the volume, press the VOL UP or VOL DOWN button.

To duplicate or extend the computer image to the projector or TV:

  1. Press and hold the Windows key and press the letter P (Windows + P).
  2. A window will appear with 4 options. Select the option you wish to use:
    • Duplicate will make the local monitor and the projection screen have the same image.
    • Extended will make the local monitor and the projection screen have different images.

To black-out the screen:

  1. Press the AV MUTE button.
  2. To return to the image, press the AV MUTE button again.

To show a VHS video:

  1. Put the videotape in the VCR.
  2. Press the VCR button on the touch screen.

Note: To adjust the volume, press the VOL UP or VOL DOWN button. Additional VCR controls are located on the touch screen.

To show a DVD video:

  1. Put the DVD in the DVD player.
  2. Press the DVD button on the touch screen.

Note: To adjust the volume, press the VOL UP or VOL DOWN button. Additional DVD controls are located on the touch screen.

When you are done:

  1. Log off the computer properly.
  2. Remove all USB devices, videotapes and discs from their appropriate places.
  3. Press the PROJ OFF button.

LB 029

To turn the wall mounted TV on:

  • Press the small black power button on the underside of the TV.

To show laptop image:

  • Connect to HDMI cable and the image should automatically appear, if not make sure HDMI 1 is selected with the button on the TV's underside. 
  • If not, try unplugging and plugging back in or turning the TV off and on.

Note: If the image does not appear, try pressing the Windows key and the P key at the same time and selecting either Duplicate or Extend. 

If you have trouble:

  • Go to the service desk and ask for help.
  • Or ask for a remote to assist you.

To duplicate or extend the computer image to the projector or TV:

LB 108

To turn the wall mounted TV on:

  • Press the small black button under the center of the TV.

To show laptop/HDMI image:

  • Connect to HDMI cable and select HDMI 1 (or whichever HDMI slot the cable is connected to in the back of the TV) with the button underneath the TV. 

Note: If the image does not appear, try pressing the Windows key and the P key at the same time and selecting either Duplicate or Extend.

LB 109

To turn the wall mounted TV on:

LB 130

To turn the ceiling mounted projector on:

  • Press the ON POWER button on the projector remote. Wait 60 seconds.

To show the tech cart computer image:

  • It will show up when you turn on the projector

Note: If the image does not appear, press FN + F? (e.g., Fn + F8) on the laptop to toggle through the display settings.

To duplicate or extend the computer image to the projector or TV:

  1. Press and hold the Windows key and press the letter P (Windows + P).
  2. A window will appear with 4 options. Select the option you wish to use:
    • Duplicate will make the local monitor and the projection screen have the same image.
    • Extended will make the local monitor and the projection screen have different images.

To adjust the volume:

  • Use either the projector remote or the computer volume controls.

To black-out the screen:

  1. Press the AV-MUTE button on the remote.
  2. To display the image, press the MUTE button again.

When you are done:

  1. Log off the computer properly.
  2. Remove all USB devices, videotapes and discs from their appropriate places.
  3. Press the STAND-BY button twice on the projector remote to turn it off.

LB 145A

To turn the wall mounted TV on:

  • Press the small black button under the center of the TV.

To Screen Share:

  • Use the button onto the bottom of the TV to open inputs and select Screen Share.
  • Use your device's capabilities to connect to the TV.

If there is no HDMI cable: 

  • Go to the service desk to collect one.
  • Plug it in to the extender that drops under the TV.

To show laptop/HDMI image:

  • Connect to HDMI cable and the image should automatically appear. 
  • If not, try unplugging and plugging back in or turning the TV off and on.

Note: If the image does not appear, try pressing the Windows key and the P key at the same time and selecting either Duplicate or Extend. 

If you have trouble:

  • Go to the service desk and ask for help.
  • Or ask for a remote to assist you.

To duplicate or extend the computer image to the projector or TV:

  1. Press and hold the Windows key and press the letter P (Windows + P).
  2. A window will appear with 4 options. Select the option you wish to use:
    • Duplicate will make the local monitor and the projection screen have the same image.
    • Extended will make the local monitor and the projection screen have different images.

To adjust the volume:

  • Use your device's volume controls.
  • Move the TV's button side to side to change.

When you are done:

  • Turn off the TV with the button underneath and turn off the lights.

LB 145B

To turn the wall mounted TV on:

  • Press the small black button under the center of the TV.

If there is no HDMI cable: 

  • Go to the service desk to collect one.
  • Plug it in on the left side into the HDMI 1 slot.

To show laptop/HDMI image:

  • Connect to HDMI cable and the image should automatically appear. 
  • If not, try unplugging and plugging back in or turning the TV off and on.

Note: If the image does not appear, try pressing the Windows key and the P key at the same time and selecting either Duplicate or Extend. 

If you have trouble:

  • Go to the service desk and ask for help.
  • Or ask for a remote to assist you.

To turn the wall mounted TV on:

  • Press the small black button under the center of the TV.

  • Plug it in on the left side into the HDMI 1 slot.

  • Connect to HDMI cable and the image should automatically appear.

To turn the wall mounted TV on:

To show laptop/HDMI image:

  • Connect to HDMI cable and select HDMI 1 (or whichever HDMI slot the cable is connected to in the back of the TV) with the button underneath the TV. 

Note: If the image does not appear, try pressing the Windows key and the P key at the same time and selecting either Duplicate or Extend.
