Konica: Install and Print to a Copier from a University Computer

Summary

Steps for installing and printing to Konica Minolta copiers from University-owned office computers.

Body

Cedarville University faculty and staff members have access to print to the Konica Minolta multifunction copiers located in most academic buildings around campus.  This article provides the instructions for printing to the copiers.

Note: Cedarville University faculty, staff, and students have the ability to use the Konica Minolta copiers distributed around campus to scan documents.  Instructions for scanning are located in the article: Konica: Use a Copier to Copy or Scan.

Installing a Specific Copier Driver for Printing

Before printing to a copier from your University-owned computer, you will need to install the driver from the Faculty/Staff print server. The instructions for how to access the print server are detailed in the following article: Install Network Printers or Copiers (Faculty/Staff Only).

Please note, the copiers are named according to their location with "Copier" as a prefix. For example, a copier located in the Engineering and Science building (ENS), room 178, is named Copier_ENS_178.

University copiers, unlike regular printers, are managed through the Postal & Print Services department. As a result, all print jobs need to be allocated to a department account number. This requirement adds a few more steps when printing to a copier, as outlined below:

  1. From within the application you are wanting to print (e.g., Microsoft Word), select File then select Print (or [Ctrl] + [P]).
  2. Click on the Printer selection drop-down menu then select the copier you installed (e.g., "Copier_ENS_178 on print-facstaff").
To select different options for how the file will print, select Printer Properties then make any adjustments. Close the window when finished.
  1. Select Print then wait for a pop-up window.

  1. Click on the Account selection drop-down menu then select the appropriate account number to charge.
If you do not see the correct GL number (or no GL number at all), please submit a ServeCU request using this form: Printing: Report a Problem/Request Help.
  1. Select Print. Your file will be processed and released immediately.

Printing to Campus_Copiers

"Campus_Copiers" is a new method of printing to University copiers and functions similar to CedarPrint for students. Campus_Copiers allows faculty and staff members to send a print job to a virtual queue, where it will be held until it is manually released at the copier.

Follow the steps listed above with these modifications:

  • Step 2: Select "Campus_Copiers on print-facstaff" as your desired copier.
  • Step 5: Select Print then visit any copier on campus, scan your University ID, and release the print job.

This setup provides an added layer of security for sensitive documents by not printing them immediately, allowing them to sit unattended on the copier. Additionally, you now have the convenience of releasing the job from any copier on campus, providing ease of access when printing from an alternate building location.
