This article is intended for FACULTY and STAFF only.
When an employee leaves the University, Information Technology will process a termination backup to retain any data pertinent to the former employee's position. Upon request, specific individuals within the department may be granted access to the backup.
To Request Access to a Termination Backup:
- Submit a ServeCU request under Office Devices: Ask for Help / Report a Problem.
- For your request to be processed as quickly as possible, please include the following details:
- First and Last Name of the former employee
- First and Last Name of each person needing access to the backup
- Brief description explaining why these individuals need access to the backup
- IT will review your request and contact you with any followup questions.
Once IT grants you access to the backup folder, you can view backups on a dedicated SharePoint site: https://cedar.to/ViewBackup.
To View Backups on the SharePoint Site:
- Click on the link above to View Backup on the SharePoint site.
- If prompted to sign in, enter your Cedarville University email address.
- You should see a screen similar to the one below.
- Click on the department folder.
- Select the backup folder you want to view.
- Download any files or folders you want to save.
Note: These folders are READ ONLY, so you cannot add or make changes to their contents. If there is anything you would like to keep, please download and save it to another location.
Note: In accordance with the Records Retention Policy, these backups will be made available for one year. After the year has expired, these files will be permanently destroyed and no longer accessible by individuals or departments.
