ChatGPT Edu — Mobile Device Setup
Overview
ChatGPT Edu is an institution-managed version of ChatGPT provided by OpenAI and available to eligible Cedarville University students, faculty, and staff. This article explains how to install and sign in to ChatGPT Edu on your iOS or Android mobile device.
Prerequisites
- An active Cedarville University account (your @cedarville.edu email address).
- A ChatGPT Edu license assigned by Cedarville IT. If you are unsure whether you have been assigned a license, contact the IT Help Desk before proceeding.
- iOS 16.0 or later, or Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later.
- A stable internet connection.
Step 1 — Install the ChatGPT App
iOS (iPhone / iPad)
- Open the App Store on your device.
- Search for ChatGPT (published by OpenAI).
- Tap Get and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password.
- Wait for the installation to complete, then tap Open.
Android
- Open the Google Play Store on your device.
- Search for ChatGPT (published by OpenAI).
- Tap Install and wait for the download to complete.
- Tap Open when installation finishes.
Step 2 — Sign In with Your Cedarville Account
- On the ChatGPT welcome screen, tap Log in.
- Tap Continue with your institution or enter your @cedarville.edu email address when prompted.
- You will be redirected to the Cedarville University Single Sign-On (SSO) login page.
- Enter your Cedarville username and password, then complete the required Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA) step.
- Upon successful authentication, you will be returned to the ChatGPT app and signed in under your Edu account.
Step 3 — Verify Your Edu Access
- After signing in, tap your profile icon in the upper-left corner.
- Confirm that your account displays your @cedarville.edu email address and shows the ChatGPT Edu plan label.
- If you see a free or Plus plan instead, your license may not yet be assigned — contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.

Update the ChatGPT app and your device OS, then relaunch. |

Open the Duo Mobile app manually to approve the request, or contact the IT Help Desk for an MFA reset. |
