Transfer Calls Using Desk Phone:

Consult First Before Transferring

The following steps explain the process of transferring a caller to another user, but you need to talk to them first before transferring the call.  This is the default mode when pressing the Transfer button on your desk phone. 

  1. When a call comes in, pick up and request the information necessary to transfer the call. 

  2. Press the Transfer button. 
     
  3. Enter or select the number for the recipient of the transfer and wait for the recipient to answer.
     
  4. Once the recipient has answered the call, tell them someone is being transferred to them. Then select the soft button Transfer on the phone. 
     
  5. Once the transfer process has completed, the call will automatically disconnect.

Blind Transfer a Call

The following steps explain how to blind transfer a Microsoft Teams phone call. 

  1. When a call comes in, pick up and request the information necessary to transfer the call. 

  2. Press the Transfer button then select Blind
     
  3. Enter or select the number for the recipient of the transfer. 
     
  4. At this point you'll see "Transferring" on the phone screen.
     
  5. Once the transfer process has started, you may now hang up the receiver.  You do not need to wait until someone answers.

Blind Transfer a Call

The following steps explain how to blind transfer a Microsoft Teams phone call. 

  1. When a call comes in, pick up and request the information necessary to transfer the call. 

  2. Press the Transfer button. 

  3. Then type in the name or number of the person you want to transfer the call to.  If you enter someone's name, you'll be presented with a second window with a drop-down box that contains 2 options:

    1. Transfer to an audio call

    2. Transfer to their work voicemail (this will send the caller directly to their voicemail without ringing their line)
       

  4. Then press Transfer. After the transfer process begins, you do not have to wait for the person to pick up before leaving the call. 

Consult First Before Transferring

  1. When a call comes in, pick up and request the information necessary to transfer the call. 

  2. Press the Transfer button. 

  3. Select Consult then transfer

  4. Then type in the name or number of the person you want to consult with. 

  5. Select the Start a Call button. 

  6. Once the person receiving the call picks up, select the transfer button and wait for the transfer to complete. 

  7. Once the transfer is complete, the call will automatically disconnect and you may hang up the handset.
