Accepted Student / Freshman Facebook Group Access

Join the Group

In order to access the accepted student Facebook group, you must take the following actions.

  1. First, make sure you are logged in to Facebook with your account (and not your parent/sibling/friend).
  2. Log in to the MyCedarville Accepted Student portal at http://my.cedarville.edu with your Cedarville username and password. If you forgot your username and password, please contact your admissions counselor.
  3. In the portal, click on the "Facebook Group" icon under the "Quick Links" section (or "Join Cedarville's Private Facebook Group" task and click the Join button inside of that).
  4. The next steps depend on whether you are logged in to Facebook or not yet.
    1. If you are logged in, you should see a button labeled "Connect with Facebook". Click that button.
    2. If you are not logged in, you should see a button labeled "Log in to Facebook and Connect with Cedarville...". Click that button.
  5. Facebook should prompt you to join the group and note that Cedarville receive your public profile and email address. Please allow this so that we can finish the invitation process. Click the "Continue as ..." button.
  6. If everything works properly, you should see a welcome message with your first name, your Facebook email address, and your Facebook profile photo. Note that your Facebook email address is only used to invite you to the accept student Facebook group.
  7. At this point, the request must be processed by the Cedarville Web Services team. They are processed during normal business hours, so there could be a short delay between connecting and receiving the invite email. If you have not received the invite email to the email associated with your Facebook account within 2 business days, please send an email to webmaster @ cedarville.edu with your full name and the Facebook email address and note that you are trying to connect to the accepted student Facebook group.
  8. Check your email account that is listed in step 6. You should have received an email from Facebook inviting you to join the group. Click the "Join Group" link in that email, making sure you are still logged in to Facebook as yourself.
  9. Facebook will provide one last prompt to join the group. Click the "Join Group" button and you'll be in!

Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty accessing the Accepted Student / Freshman Facebook group, ensure that you have visited the accepted student portal and have followed the process above. Make sure that you allow Cedarville to use your Facebook email address so that the system can pull the email address that is linked to your Facebook account. If you do not allow Cedarville to use your email, the request will come in without an email address and we will be unable to invite you to the group. 

I can't log in to the Accepted Student portal

Be sure you are using the Cedarville account you created when you applied. Contact your admissions counselor if the problem continues.

My email address is not listed on the portal page in step #6

If you don't have an email address on your Facebook account, or you did not allow the permission for Cedarville to access it, we cannot process your request. You will need to friend your admissions counselor on Facebook and have them request for your to join the group.

I no longer have access to the email address on my Facebook account and listed on the portal page in step #6

If you no longer have access to the email address listed on your Facebook account, we cannot process your request. You will need to friend your admissions counselor on Facebook and have them request for your to join the group.

I never received the invite email

Send an email to webmaster @ cedarville.edu with your full name and your Facebook email address and note that you are trying to connect to the accepted student Facebook group, but never received the invite email.
