Placing and Editing Images in a Content Box and Column in Sitecore

These instructions are especially important for the CU Partners page in the logo section at the bottom.

Placing an Image in a Content Box:

  • You can create a content box in either Content Editor or XPEditor.
    • Content Editor: Left click on the page's local folder in the file tree and select insert and then Content Box. If it does not appear, try XPEditor. If that does not work, contact a Web Services staff member that has admin access. Be sure to name it clearly.
    • XPEditor: If you would like it in a column structure, you can place the column first and click on one of the spaces. Click the "insert here" button and choose content box from the list that will pop up in the window. If it is not there, try Content Editor. (If that does not work, contact a Web Services staff member that has admin access.) Click "Create New" on the side panel and name the item clearly.
  • Once you have the Content Box selected, place the image:
    • Content Editor: under "Content > Content Info" click "Show Editor." Follow the instructions for RTE below.
    • XPEditor: Click on the item to select it. Follow the instructions for RTE below.
    • RTE: Click the "+ Image" icon in the Rich Text Editor top panel. Under the media library open the "Images" folder and locate your image or use the search feature. Once the item has been placed, select the HTML tab at the bottom of the RTE panel. Remove anything that is width or height related. (EX: width=260 or style="width: 260; height: 150px;") Make sure the image will not stretch when the browser window changes size

Moving the Placement of an Image in a Content Box:

  • If you are going to move the placement of these images in a column, click the "configure" tab at the top of the page and then select "protect item." Then, when you move the image to a different place in the column or page, you are selecting the item rather than the RTE. This will prevent your image from disappearing when you click on the content box. If you need to edit the item again, unprotect the item, edit it, save it, and then protect the item again.
