What does the “instructional designer (ID) development method” mean?
This refers to the method by which the CTL designs courses with you. If you are designing a course by the instructional designer-led method, the instructional designer will meet with you to glean some necessary information, and then the instructional designer will draft the course material based on your meeting, course objectives, and provided textbooks. The instructional designer will submit the drafted course to you for review and will adjust the course based on your feedback.
How much time will it take?
You can expect to spend up to 20 hours designing the course. You will work with the CTL over a period of two months.
What will the development schedule look like?
You will meet with the instructional designer once to kick off the project. During the following month, you will be available to answer questions from the instructional designer and participate in media.
During the second month of development, the instructional designer will submit the drafted course to you for review and will adjust the course based on your feedback. Once your feedback has been applied, the CTL will build the course in the learning management system and deliver it to you for review. If you have busy periods or vacations, the CTL is happy to work around those if you provide the dates before the development time frame is selected.

The instructional designer is trained to identify effective, objective-centered methods for leading students through the course material in an online platform. You can trust the instructional designer to use the meeting with you, course objectives, and course texts to develop a quality course for you to review. The instructional designer will be happy to work with your feedback to improve the course.
What’s it like working with the new media developer?
If the course you’re designing will be enhanced by media, the new media developer will assist you in preparing for the filming if you will be featured in the media. If you would prefer not to appear in the media, the new media developer will provide a solution that will feature actors or animations.
