Manage Files on OneDrive using Microsoft Teams

There are several ways to manage OneDrive files. One option is to use Microsoft Teams. View the sections and videos below to learn more about managing OneDrive files within Microsoft Teams.

Find Your Files in Teams

  • Click on a channel in Teams.  You’ll see a General channel and probably others.  In the panel on the right side of the screen, click “Files” at the top of that section.
  • Navigate to the desired folder where you wish to manage your files

Create a New File

  • Click “+New” at the top of the screen and choose what type of document to create
  • Give your document a name and click Create
  • Your document will open in the online version of the office application within the Teams app
  • Click Close in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to close the document

Open a File

  • Click on the file to open it in Teams
  • Optionally, you can right-click on the file name and select the Open menu to open it in the desktop app.

Delete a File

  • Deleting files - click the circle next to the file name and click the Delete button

Upload an Existing File

  • Click on the Upload button and browse to the file on your local computer
  • You can also drag and drop a file into the window next to “Drag files here to upload”

Move a File

  • Select the file and click on “Move” 
  • Select the destination folder and click Move
