🚚 Migrate files from a school OneDrive to a personal OneDrive (with Mover.io)

Microsoft provides the tool Mover.io, to migrate files from a large number of popular cloud storage providers into OneDrive.

Information Technology encourages students, faculty, and staff to migrate data between OneDrive’s using the following steps:

Step 1: Log into Mover.io with your School Account

  1. Using your favorite browser, navigate to https://app.mover.io and select "Sign In with Microsoft"

Sign in using your @cedarville.edu email address and password.

  1. The first time you log in to Mover with your Microsoft account, you'll be asked to give permission to access your files. Select Yes to continue.

Step 2: Authorize a File Source (OneDrive for Business)

  1. On the next page, select Authorize New Connector under Step 1: Select Source.

  1. Then select the OneDrive you want to transfer from.
    1. Select authorize next to the cloud storage you're using at work or school, such as OneDrive for Business (Single User). This allows Mover to access your school files.

  1. Sign in with your Microsoft account or the account you use with school to authorize it as a source location.
  2. Review and select the files and folders that you want to move.

Step 3: Authorize a File Destination (OneDrive Consumer)

  1. To choose the location that your files will move to click Authorize New Connector under Step 2: Select destination.

  1. On the next page, select Authorize next to the Microsoft account that you want to move your files to.

  1. Enter the username and password for your personal Microsoft account.
  1. Select an existing folder to move your files to or select Create Folder if you want a new folder for your files.

Step 4: Migrate Your Files

  1. Under Step 3: Start transferring, select Start Copy. Mover transfers a copy of your school files over to your Microsoft account OneDrive.

  1. If you want to see more information about the transfer, review the data under Transfer. For example, if you have any Files Skipped, select the number of files in the column and review the files.
