Changes in Authenticating with Duo

Note: If you do not currently use Duo, you are unaffected by this change and do not need to read any further.

If you do use Duo and do not configure your phone for Duo Push notifications through the DUO App by Monday, February 17, at 8:00am,

you will NOT be able to access your account using Duo.

Beginning February 17, 2025, Cedarville University will no longer support phone call and text message (SMS) authentication for Duo. This means the only available options for Duo Authenticate are Duo Push (recommended) and Passcode authentication. Both of these options will require you to download the DUO mobile app.

How do I know if I have already downloaded the DUO Mobile App and if it is configured properly?

  1. The DUO Mobile App is installed on your phone.  If it is not installed see the link below to start the instillation process.
  2. If you open the DUO Mobile App you will see a screen like the one pictured below.  If you see this in your app your DUO account is set up properly to receive DUO PUSHES for authentication.  No further action is needed.

You can find complete instructions for installing and using Duo Mobile in our article, Set Up and Use DUO Two-Factor Authentication.

If your phone is unable to download the DUO mobile app, call our service desk at 937-766-7905 for alternative options.

To test your duo mobile or passcode authentication:

  1. Open an incognito window (Chrome), private window (Firefox), or private window (Safari) in your web browser.
  2. Search for and open mycu.cedarville.edu.
  3. Click "Sign in" in the upper right corner.
  4. Enter your Cedarville username and password. This should prompt you to log in with Duo.
  5. Click "Other Options" when the Duo prompt comes up. The options that appear are the authentication methods you have signed up for.

If you don't see "Duo Push" or "Duo Mobile Passcode," you'll need to call our service desk at 937-766-7905 to set up the Duo app correctly.
