Changes in Authenticating with Duo

Though it may seem annoying, using Duo to protect network logins has significantly decreased the number of compromised accounts for Cedarville University users. As you may know, Duo offers several ways for users to verify their identity, some of which are free, while others come with a cost. Phone calls and text messages (SMS) fall into the latter category.

Every time someone requests a text message or phone call, the university has to pay a fee. To save on these costs, the IT department will disable the ability to use text messages (SMS) and phone calls for Duo authentication starting in January 2025. In the meantime, our users will be provided with resources to make sure their devices have the Duo app installed on them and that it is working properly for Duo push notifications.

You can find complete instructions for installing and using Duo here.
