The following does NOT apply to those using Mac devices.
Complete the following steps to enable access to software installed on fac/staff, university-owned systems:
- Navigate to your File Explorer and find the software you wish to install.
- Right-click on the desired file. You should see an option called "Run with elevated access" towards the bottom of the pop-up.
- If "Run with elevated access?" does not appear, select "Show more options" and you should find "Run with elevated access" at the top of the list.
- NOTE: DO NOT use the option "Run as administrator" as it requires you to have current administrator access to the system. This option will NOT allow you to run the software installation with elevated privileges.
- Once you select "Run with elevated access," a window will populate that requires a written justification for the installation.
- Complete the justification then select "Continue."
- Enter your Cedarville University password to allow the software to finish installing.
- From this point on, you should be able to click through the installer for the program.
If you are having trouble installing or accessing a software program after completing the steps above, you may have to unblock the software. To unblock a software program:
- Right-click on the file and select "Properties."
- In the "General" tab (under "Properties"), towards the bottom of the window, you will see "Security."
- If the box next to "Unblock" is blank, click it so a checkmark appears.
- Once the checkmark populates, select "Apply" and then"OK."

The administrator rights are only available through the duration of the installation of the program. You will have to repeat the steps above for EVERY program installed outside of the software available through the "University Software" portal.
