After downloading the software to be installed on a fac/staff, university-owned system, complete the following steps to ensure the software is not blocked:
- Right-click on the file in your file explorer and select "Properties."
- In the "General" tab (under "Properties"), towards the bottom of the window, you will see "Attributes."
- If security measures are in place, you may need to unblock the software so the file can run.
- To unblock software, click the "Unblock" box. Once the checkmark appears, click "Apply" and "OK."
- Once you have made sure the software is unblocked, right-click on the file to install it. You should see an option called "Run with elevated access?"
- If "Run with elevated access?" does not show up, select "Show more options" and you should find "Run with elevated access?" at the top of the list.
- DO NOT use the option "Run as administrator" as it requires you to have current administrator access to the system. This option will NOT allow you to run the software installation with elevated privileges.
- Once you select "Run with elevated access?," a window will populate that requires a written justification for the installation.
- Complete the justification then select "Continue."
- Enter your Cedarville University password to allow the software to install.
- From this point on, you should be able to click through the installer for the program.
The administrator rights are only available through the duration of the installation of the program. You will have to repeat the steps above for EVERY program installed outside of the software available through the "University Software" portal. If you install software through the "University Software" portal, you will not be required to use EPM.
