Lost or Misplaced Windows File
Lost or Misplaced Windows File
To locate a misplaced file:
Run a search using the file name.
In Windows 7, go to "Start" > Type the file name in "Search programs and files."
In Windows 10, type the file name in "Search the web and Windows," located on the taskbar.
If you recently accessed the lost file, you may be able to find it under "File" > "Open" within the program you used to create it. For example, if you are in Microsoft Word, you can go to "File" > "Open" and see approximately the last twenty-five documents you had open in Word.
