Lost or Misplaced Windows File

To locate a misplaced file: 

• Run a search using the file name.
  • In Windows 7, go to "Start" > Type the file name in "Search programs and files."
  • In Windows 10, type the file name in "Search the web and Windows," located on the taskbar. 
• If you recently accessed the lost file, you may be able to find it under "File" > "Open" within the program you used to create it. For example, if you are in Microsoft Word, you can go to "File" > "Open" and see approximately the last twenty-five documents you had open in Word.
