Google calls anything that you would put on your Calendar an "event" (including birthdays, appointments, meetings, etc).

To Create an Event:

  1. Log in to your Google Calendar
  2. Within your calendar, click the date and time where you would like to add an event.
  3. In the "Add title" field, type the name of your event.
  4. In the time field, set the start and end time for your event.
  5. Click "MORE OPTIONS."
  6. If your event is all day, check the "All day" box.
  7. If your event repeats, from the "Does not repeat" drop-down, choose how often your event occurs.
  8. In the "Add location" field, enter the location for your event.
  9. To create a reminder for the event, choose how and at want point(s) you would like to be notified before the event.
  10. From the "Default visibility" drop-down, set the privacy of the event. Choose “Default visibility” to set the privacy as the calendar’s privacy setting. Choose “Private” to make the event details only visible to you (and other calendar owners, i.e. those you’ve shared with or delegated to). Choose “Public” to make the event details available to anyone who has free/busy access to your calendar.
  11. Click [Save].
