University Software Support

The lists below summarize the support for software provided by Cedarville University's Information Technology department. Many of the software packages on CedarNet are placed there to facilitate instruction rather than be used within offices. These lists will give you an idea of which packages we recommend for office use.

Interested in purchasing hardware? See the University Hardware Support (faculty/staff only) tech help page.

Note: Please check with us before acquiring additional software. Because of the large amount of software on CedarNet, there is a high risk of incompatibility when adding other software to your computer. There may be significant licensing and technical issues if you want to make certain software available on CedarNet.

Minimal Support (i.e., IT will make sure the program starts)

Information technology (IT) offers minimal support for all of the other software provided on CedarNet that is not listed on this page. We recommend students check with their professor for specific instructions on classroom software.

Support for Software Purchased by Departments or Individuals (including SaaS)

We will do what we can to help you get this kind of software running if the software has a clear business or instructional purpose. However, we must give priority to software that is already provided on CedarNet. Be aware, also, that some software is sold for use on a single computer only and cannot be placed on CedarNet without special licensing arrangements.

We offer support for issues related to Cedarville's network, Cedarville accounts, and the software listed above. If you are having issues installing or using department-purchased software, such as Examsoft, please contact that software's support directly. IT strongly suggests testing any new software at least a day BEFORE you need to use it, in case you run into issues with the software.

Note: Software as a service (SaaS), or hosted software, allows users to access software through an Internet provider. Generally, the organization who hosts the software provides access to users for a reasonable, monthly charge. Since the host organization automatically updates the software, users will always have access to the latest version of the software.
