Tips when hosting a video/teleconference
Determine if you are hosting a
Meeting or Webinar
Don't go out there alone! Appoint a person to act as your "Zoom Captain" (our term, not Zoom's) and give them specific authority to
Monitor the Waiting Room and allow/disallow attendees
Boot attendees who are being purposefully or accidentally disruptive
Mute all attendees
Unmute attendees who forget to unmute themselves
Switch video modes as necessary
Set attendees to be muted on entry
When setting up the meeting, set your Zoom Captain as a co-host
If possible, plug in to the network instead of using wifi
For public events, consider contacting MarCom to use the Newsroom
Select an appropriate backdrop or one of
MarCom's Cedarville University backgrounds
If connecting from home,
warn your family and lock your door
Raise up your camera to eye level. If using a laptop, elevate your device with a stand or books (ensure it is stable) and use an external mouse and/or keyboard at table level
Smile and greet attendees
