🍪 Clear Web Browser Cache and Cookies

The browser cache stores logos, photographs, ads, and items from web pages that you visit. If you are having trouble with the display of a web page or with Internet speed, try clearing the browser's cache.

Cookies are messages that retrieve custom information when you visit the web page that cookie is from. For example, when you visit Amazon.com, a cookie might make your account name appear automatically. If you want to ensure the browser's cookies don't have any of your private information, delete the cookies.

Google Chrome

To clear the browser cache and/or cookies:

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click the three vertical dots > [Settings].
  3. On the left side of the page, click [Privacy and security].
  4. Click [Clear browsing data]. A new window should appear.
  5. Check “Cached images and files" and/or "Cookies and other site data." Other boxes are optional.
  6. From the “Time range:” drop-down, select how far back in time. "All time" is preferred if you want Chrome to clear all of the cache/cookies.
  7. Click [Clear data].  The cache/cookies are cleared.

Safari

On Mac

To clear the browser cache and cookies:

  1. Open Safari.
  2. In the upper-left corner of your computer, click [Safari] > [Preferences…]. A new window should appear.
  3. In the resulting window, click the [Privacy] tab.
  4. Click [Manage Website Data...]
  5. Click [Remove All]. A confirmation window should appear.
  6. Click [Remove Now]. The cache and cookies are cleared.

On iOS

To clear history and website data (they cannot be deleted individually)

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Scroll down and find Safari.
  3. Click [Safari] to show the app options.
  4. Scroll down and tap [Clear History and Website Data].
  5. The data is now cleared.

Firefox

To clear the browser cache and/or cookies: 

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click the 3 horizontal lines > [History] > [Clear Recent History...] The "Clear Recent History" window should appear.
  3. Check “Cache” and/or "Cookies." Other boxes are optional.
  4. From the “Time range to clear:” drop-down, select how far back in time you want Firefox to clear the cache. "Everything" is preferred if you want Firefox to clear all of the cache/cookies.
  5. Click [OK]. The cache is cleared.

Microsoft Edge

To clear the browser cache and/or cookies:

  1. Open Edge
  2. In the upper-right corner, click the 3 horizontal dots > [History] > 3 horizontal dots > [Clear Browsing Data].
  3. Check "Cached images and files" and/or "Cookies and other site data." Other boxes are optional.
  4. From the "Time range" drop-down, select how far back in time you want Edge to clear the cache. "All time" is preferred if you want Edge to clear all of the cache/cookies.
  5. Click [Clear Now]. The cache/cookies are cleared.
